KERI SCHADLER, PH.D.
Keri Schadler, Ph.D., is an associate professor of Pediatrics Research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She is a native Texan, raised in Austin and educated at Texas A&M University for her bachelor’s degree. She received her Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Schadler completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia before returning to MD Anderson Cancer Center as a faculty member.
Dr. Schadler leads a research lab focused on understanding how exercise impacts the solid tumor microenvironment and what that means for cancer response to therapy. In the decade since launching her lab, her passion for exercise as an essential component of cancer care has only grown. Dr. Schadler has transformed her passion into exercise programming for pediatric patients, education on exercise for care providers, and the creation of a gym specifically for children and adolescents in the pediatric inpatient unit at MD Anderson.
In addition to her research, Dr. Schadler is passionate about graduate education and is a strong advocate for young scientists in the training phases of their career. She co-directs both the Office for Research Education and Training and Odyssey Postdoctoral Fellowships at MD Anderson. In these roles, Dr. Schadler develops the necessary resources to support biomedical scientists as they prepare to lead their own research teams.
