Philip Anthony "Scooby" Wright III, born on August 28, 1994, in Windsor, California, was a talented and tenacious linebacker at the University of Arizona. Despite being lightly recruited, Wright made an immediate impact as a true freshman in 2013. Throughout his college career, he showcased his exceptional skills and became a defensive standout for the Wildcats. In 2014, he had a remarkable season, earning several prestigious awards, including the Lombardi Award. Wright's sophomore year accomplishments also included being named a unanimous All-American, winning the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, and earning first-team All-Pac-12 honors.

In the NFL, Wright was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He later joined the Arizona Cardinals, playing from 2016 to 2017. Wright had a brief stint with the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) and then signed with the New England Patriots in 2019. He also had a brief tenure with the DC Defenders of the XFL in 2020. Currently, he is a linebacker for the Birmingham Stallions in the United States Football League (USFL).

Throughout his career, Wright has been known for his aggressive playing style and exceptional tackling abilities. While injuries hampered his junior year in college and limited his playing time, he demonstrated his resilience and determination to overcome challenges. Wright's dedication to the sport and his standout performances have earned him recognition and accolades at every level of play.
