David Pollack, born on June 19, 1982, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, was a formidable linebacker at the University of Georgia and a prominent figure in American football. With an impressive college career, Pollack garnered numerous accolades, including being a three-time All-American and the recipient of the Lombardi Award. During his time at Georgia, he recorded 36 sacks, making him the third-ranked player in NCAA history. In 2005, Pollack was selected as a first-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL Draft. Unfortunately, his professional career was cut short due to a career-ending injury in the second game of his second season. Since 2011, Pollack has been working as a college football analyst for ESPN, bringing his expertise and passion for the game to the broadcasting world.

Pollack's journey began in Snellville, Georgia, where he attended Shiloh High School and excelled in football, basketball, and wrestling. He was recognized as a Class 5A all-state selection and earned the Defensive Lineman of the Year award from the Atlanta Touchdown Club during his senior year. Continuing his athletic pursuits, Pollack joined the University of Georgia, where he played for the Georgia Bulldogs football team from 2001 to 2004. Throughout his college career, he achieved remarkable success, becoming a first-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) selection and a first-team All-American for three consecutive seasons. Pollack's achievements included being named SEC Player of the Year twice, SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and winning prestigious awards such as the Chuck Bednarik Award, Ted Hendricks Award (twice), and the Lombardi Award.

One of Pollack's most memorable moments came in the second game of the 2002 season when he made a remarkable interception in the end zone, securing a touchdown. He finished his college career with 36 sacks, a Georgia Bulldogs record, and ranked third in NCAA history. Pollack graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in history, solidifying his commitment to both academics and athletics.

After being drafted in the first round by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2005, Pollack showcased his skills at the professional level. Despite his rookie season as a reserve, he quickly rose to prominence and became a starter, contributing 4.5 sacks and displaying his defensive prowess. Tragically, in his second season, Pollack suffered a career-ending injury during a game against the Cleveland Browns. Although he underwent surgery and rehabilitation, he ultimately retired from professional football in 2008.
