Corey Moore had an illustrious career as a linebacker for the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Buffalo Bills in the NFL. Known for his hard-hitting style of play, Moore left an indelible mark on the field and earned a reputation as a fierce competitor. At Virginia Tech, he played football and was widely regarded as one of the country's most feared and respected linebackers. His leadership qualities and outstanding performances made him a unanimous All-American, winning the Lombardi Award in 1999.

During his college years, Moore's statistics were nothing short of impressive. In just three seasons, he recorded 166 tackles, 35 sacks, 58 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles, and three blocked kicks. His contributions were instrumental in the success of Virginia Tech's defense, particularly as part of the renowned "Lunch Pail Defense" that ranked first in scoring defense and third in total and rushing defense nationally in 1999. Moore's impact on the field was undeniable, and his jersey number, No. 56, was rightfully retired in 2010 to honor his exceptional achievements.

In the 2000 NFL draft, Moore was selected by the Buffalo Bills, marking the beginning of his professional career. He played for the Bills during the 2000 season, showcasing his skills and tenacity as a linebacker. Later, Moore signed a two-year contract with the Miami Dolphins, continuing to make his mark in the NFL.

 

Beyond his football career, Corey Moore has pursued a path in higher education. He currently serves as the Assistant Dean for Academic Advising and Student Success at the UK College of Nursing. In this role, he leads the Academic and Student Affairs division, overseeing various student services activities and actively promoting student mental health and diversity. With over 17 years of experience in higher education, Moore is deeply committed to providing holistic student support and advising. His dedication is evident in his active involvement with the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the sport, Corey Moore was named to the National Football Foundation's College Football Hall of Fame in 2023. His remarkable achievements on the field, combined with his commitment to student success in higher education, make him a truly remarkable individual. Corey Moore's legacy extends beyond football, leaving an indelible impact on the gridiron and the academic world.
